How can I edit my submission?

If your submission has been sent, it's no longer editable, and Submittable is not permitted to edit your submission content. However, you can request that the submission be opened up for editing by the organization that you submitted to. You can usually find contact information on the organization's website. Please note that, if the review process has already started, the organization may decline your request.

Here are other ways you can submit your request for editing:

  • The organization may allow you to request an edit within your Submittable account. In the app, tap the main navigation bar, and choose Submissions. Select your submission. Tap the dropdown menu icon in the top right corner. If the organization allows edit requests, you'll see a Request edits option (below the Withdraw option). Select Request edits, enter the reason for your request, and tap Submit request. If the organization approves your request, you'll receive an email letting you know your submission was opened for editing. Click the submission link in the email to go to your submission's details page at manager.submittable.com. Then, go to the Content tab and click the edit buttons next to the fields you'd like to edit. When you're finished making edits, click the Mark As Done And Close For Editing button.
  • You may also be able to add a note to your submission. Tap the main navigation bar, and choose Submissions. Select your submission. If the organization allows submitter notes, there will be a message icon in the top right corner. Select the message icon and enter your note, then tap Send.
  • You can withdraw your submission.

What does my submission status mean?

Submissions are marked with one of 6 statuses:

  • Received: Your submission has been successfully sent to the organization and is in queue or being printed and read outside the Submittable system
  • In-Progress: Your submission has been received and additionally handled in some way (e.g. assigned, commented on, etc.)
  • Editable: Your submission has been opened to you for editing
  • Declined: Your submission has been declined
  • Accepted: Your submission has been accepted
  • Completed: Your submission has been processed and is no longer being considered. (Note: Some organizations use this status for situations like large, public contests, in which, for example, they've publicly announced the winners online and would prefer not to "Decline" the remaining submissions.)
  • Withdrawn: Your submission has been withdrawn from consideration

How do I withdraw my submission?

  1. 1. Select the main navigation bar in the top left corner, and tap Submissions.
  2. 2. Open the submission you wish to withdraw.
  3. 3. Select the dropdown menu icon in the top right corner. Choose Withdraw.
  4. 4. Enter a reason for withdrawal that will be received by the organization from which you're withdrawing the submission.
  5. 5. Tap Withdraw. Your submission status will now be set to Withdrawn.
  6. Note: Withdrawing does not provide an automatic refund of your submission fee. A refund must be requested by the organization.

How do I remove my personal submissions from my list?

Submitters can remove entries that have reached a terminal status (Accepted, Declined, Completed, or Withdrawn) from their Submissions list by following these steps:

  1. 1. Select the main navigation bar in the top left corner, and tap Submissions. Tap the magnifying glass icon and filter by the terminal status of the submission you'd like to remove.
  2. 2. In your filtered submissions list, select the submission you want to remove. Tap the dropdown menu in the top right corner. Select Remove from list. (Note: If you do not see a Delete option, this means the submission has not yet reached a terminal status.)
  3. 3. Tap Yes, remove. Once you have removed an entry, it will no longer appear in your Submissions list.

If you'd like to withdraw a submission from an organization you have submitted to, please see withdrawing submissions.

How do I contact an organization to inquire about a submission?

To check whether the organization allows submitters to message them through Submittable, select the main navigation bar in the top left corner, and tap Submissions. Select the submission you'd like to inquire about. If there is a message icon in the top right corner, then the organization allows messaging. Tap the message icon, type your message, and select Send.

If the organization you would like to contact does not allow messaging, then you'll need to find their contact information on their website and phone them or email them from your personal email account.

How do I withdraw one piece of work from a submission without withdrawing the entire submission?

To withdraw one piece of work from a submission that contains other pieces of your work, you'll need to contact the organization and specify the piece you want to withdraw. Please see contacting an organization.
